How to Setup Parental Control in Instagram

It’s important to have a conversation with your child about their online safety and the importance of being cautious when sharing personal information online. Encourage them to be critical of the content they consume and to report any suspicious or inappropriate activity they encounter. Here are few settings you can do on their Instagram Account :
- Open the Instagram App on your child’s device and log in to their account.
- Tap on the profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Tap on the three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the screen.
- Select “Settings” from the menu.
- Tap on “Privacy” and select “Account Privacy.”
- Under “Who can contact me?” you can set who can send direct messages to your child’s account. You can set it to “Everyone,” “People you follow,” or “Off.”
- Under “Who can view my story?” you can set who can view your child’s stories. You can set it to “Everyone,” “People you follow,” or “Custom.”
- Under “Who can see my posts and stories?” you can set who can see your child’s posts and stories. You can set it to “Everyone,” “People you follow,” or “Custom.”
- Under “Who can tag me in photos and videos?” you can set who can tag your child in photos and videos. You can set it to “Everyone,” “People you follow,” or “Off.”
- Under “Who can look me up using the phone number you provided?” you can set who can look up your child’s account using their phone number. You can set it to “Everyone” or “Off.”
- Under “Who can look me up using the email address you provided?” you can set who can look up your child’s account using their email address. You can set it to “Everyone” or “Off.”
- Under “Who can find me using my username?” you can set who can find your child’s account using their username. You can set it to “Everyone” or “Off.”
- Once you’ve made your selections, tap on “Done” to save the changes.
- To monitor your child’s activity on Instagram, you can use the Family Link app to view the apps they have used and the amount of time spent on each app. Additionally, you can use Instagram’s built-in privacy and safety features to control who can contact or view your child’s account.
