[Review] Nokia 6
Nokia 6 has released and it has some high standards to live up to. Although it provides a ton of stuff that is mandatory for the mid-tier smartphones, it doesn’t really offer anything that sets it apart from the rest. It has some nice features like a huge battery life, fast recharge time, and metal casing. However, it lacks a great camera, and the finger scanner can be quite inconsistent at times. However, for the mid-tier smartphone, it’s pretty good. There are some decent specifications to work with, plus it comes with 3GB of RAM, when most of the mid-tier smartphones have settled for 2GB. This extra bit of RAM definitely helps out as during our usage, we barely suffered from slowdowns or stutters, which was an amazing thing to see. If you have been holding out for a decent mid-ranged smartphone, then don’t wait any longer because despite its flaws, Nokia 6 is a great deal.
Design
The metal casing provides an amazing grip on the phone, and makes it easier to hold in hand. Furthermore, it gives Nokia 6 a great outlook which is important to a lot of people. They want their smartphones to look good and that is where it excels. The standard ports plus headphone jack are present, so there’s no need to worry about that. The build is also excellent as the phone is neither too slim nor too fat. It is a good combination of both.
Performance
Nokia 6 comes with Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 chipset, Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, and Adreno 505 GPU. All of these specifications are supported by 3GB of RAM. These are great specifications, and help you perform all the tasks without worrying about stutters or slowdowns. In our usage, we played games, streamed, and did a lot of other tasks without facing any problem whatsoever. So, on performance front, Nokia 6 is great. This is not something that you see every day, especially in mid-tier smartphones.
Camera
Nokia 6 boasts 16MP camera that comes with autofocus, geo-tagging, dual-LED, HDR, panoramic, and other features. It takes some amazing pictures at places where the light is good. However, falls pretty flat in places where the lighting is dim. For better results, it is advised that you make use of this phone during the day or at places where lighting isn’t an issue. Secondary camera is of 8MP and suffers from the same issue. It is absolutely brilliant in the areas with good lighting, but suffers in dim light. Once again, for the effective use of this camera, make sure you are in a room where the light is just right.
Battery
Nokia 6 comes with non-removable 3000mAh Li-On battery, which works amazingly well. Even during hefty usage, it was able to last longer than most smartphones. The battery timing is quite high and the best part is that the recharge timing is faster. This means that you can make use of this phone for longer period of time, plus you can recharge it at a faster pace. Recharging the device can be quite annoying sometimes as you never know how long it will take. However, things are way better when it comes to Nokia 6. It charges at a faster rate, and lasts for a pretty long time.
Storage
Two versions of the Nokia 6 are available – one of them boasts 32GB of storage space, while the other comes with 64GB. microSD cards are also supported, which means that you won’t have to worry about running out space. Usage varies from individual to individual of course – so if you need more storage space in your phone, it’s in your interest to go with the 64GB version.
Verdict
Nokia 6 is a great addition to the mid-ranged smartphone market. It offers almost everything one hopes for from a mid-tier smartphone and does it quite well. There are some flaws in fingerprint scanner as it can quite inconsistent. Moreover, the camera is really bad in poor lighting conditions. If you can get past these issues however, you have an amazing device at your disposal. It comes with great specifications, storage space is more than enough, and battery life is amazing. The recharge time is faster than most smartphones these days, which is yet another positive. If you are in the market for a mid-ranged mobile phone, then you won’t find a better candidate than Nokia 6.
